The Winter Solstice is the longest night of the year, it also symbolises a period of great darkness just before the light starts to return. The word solstice comes from the Latin ‘sol’ meaning sun and ‘sistere’ which means to ‘stand still’. It is a ‘yin’ time, a feminine cycle in the seasons. A time for us to rest, meditate or hibernate. It is a time to withdraw from the outside world and take shelter in our inner cave. Here we explore the deepest aspects of ourselves and our consciousness before we emerge back into the light of the solar, masculine energies. The goddess energy is also birthed in the womb of our inner cave. One Goddess that reflects this archetypal journey and mirrors the sacredness of the Solstice is Mary Magdalene. She spent the last thirty years of her life living in a cave in Southern France after the crucifixion of her beloved partner,Yeshua. It was a period of great personal loss for her, yet despite the darkness, their sacred connection remained through the embodiment of the Christ Light within her.

This Divine Light resides within us too. Yet, most of us have forgotten this or have not embodied it fully. She wants to remind us of our inner light.

The period of time between Winter Solstice and Christmas is also symbolic of the sacred union of the feminine and masculine energies within us. A time of giving and receiving, doing and being.

This last year has been an intense period of darkness for humanity both on a personal level and on a more global one. Like winter, we too can feel we have been stripped bare, we have faced battering storms and torrential flooding, both literally and emotionally. And that is why Mary Magdalene is stepping out of her mythic cave now. She is returning to help us find the light within the darkness. She offers us the shelter, comfort, warmth and love of her Divine Feminine energies. She offers hope when we feel despair, compassion where there is judgement and love when we feel alone. We can ask her to hold us when our world seems as bleak as winter, to give us hope when we feel despair and to nurture and sustain us when our resources are sparse or lacking.

The Magdalene energies are awakening once more and are emerging into the light after a two-thousand-year period of darkness. Her presence is being felt now by those who remember her, our Souls are stirring, we have been waiting for her return. The Magdalene Movement is happening NOW. You can be part of it too:

A Winter Solstice Meditation to awaken the Magdalene energies within:

*Close your eyes and focus on your breath. Place one hand on your heart and the other on your sacral chakra and bring your awareness to those areas inside.

*Call out to Mary Magdalene and ask her to ignite the Magdalene flame within you. See, sense or feel a spark of divine light igniting her archetypal energies within your Soul. Feel them glowing like the embers of a fire as they rekindle and start to burn brightly.

*Visualise the Magdalene Flame rising up through your chakras, like a Phoenix rising from the flames. Feel the warmth spreading throughout your body and filling your aura.

*Ask Mary Magdalene to shine her light on any areas of darkness in your life or ask for a message or guidance.

*Set your Solstice intention about what you wish to ‘birth’ at this sacred time and ask for her help and loving support as it grows into the light.

*Then finally, feel, sense or see your chakras closing and when you are ready, you can open your eyes.

Solstice Blessings everyone x
